2013年に初めて蓮の花を拓画した際は花を真上から見た構図にしてしまい、蓮らしくない作品になってしまいました。
蓮は他の植物以上に水分を弾く性質があったり、花托がとても厚く摺りにくかったりとても拓画にするのが難しい植物です。墨成分を調整したり、スポンジの厚さを変えたり試行錯誤の末、何度目かのチャレンジでようやく蓮らしくするコツを得たような気がします。
When I made my first takuga of a lotus flower in 2013, I made a composition looking at the flower from above, which resulted in a work that did not look like a lotus.
The lotus is a very difficult plant to make Takuga because it repels water more than other plants, and its receptacle is very thick, making it difficult to print. After adjusting the ink ingredients, changing the thickness of the sponge, and other trial and error, I think I finally got the hang of making it look like a lotus after several attempts.
